The "relationship" system is a garbage version of Affliction/Virtue, the carriage is a garbage version of dungeon delving, roster building and hero building practically doesn't exist now since you only have 4 heroes per run, losing a single hero on any run more or less tanks the entire run, and trinket design is somehow even worse and less inspired than in the first game. To add onto this, every single new system they made was a direct downgrade or fuckup of previous systems. It failed to iterate on any of the core strengths the original game had and instead attempted to turn itself into a Roguelike whilst simultaneously failing to adopt any of the truly appealing mechanics of such games resulting in a mish mosh that appeals to neither fans of Darkest Dungeon, or fans of Roguelikes, while also killing all future mod support which carried the first game due to adopting 3D graphics, which was pointless since they kept the exact same basic combat system anyway, meaning the choice to go 3D has done absolutely nothing but fuck over modders.
